Making a Difference in Colorado Springs: Get Involved in Service Projects

Are you looking for ways to make a positive impact in Colorado Springs? Volunteering with one of the city's nearly fifty boards, commissions, and committees is an excellent way to help make the city a better place to live, work, and play. Plus, it's a great opportunity to learn more about local agencies and see how your efforts can have an impact on the community. One of the best ways to get involved in service projects in Colorado Springs is through Pikes Peak United Way. Participating in corporate volunteering opportunities is a great way to strengthen your team while helping those in need. The Volunteer Program Coordinator for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is located at 27 East Vermijo Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. With the support of volunteers, more than 50 Volunteers of America programs are able to empower over 200,000 people each year in Colorado. As the population of El Paso County continues to grow, so does the demand for services at the Sheriff's Office.

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services also offers a wide variety of volunteer services throughout the community. This project brings together volunteers, community members, and leaders from across the region (Vision Councils) to collect and evaluate data and set goals (called “priority areas”) in several categories. The El Paso County Sheriff's Office also offers volunteer opportunities for those who want to help out with patrols. Volunteers assist with enforcing applicable civil laws, answer service calls, carry out criminal investigations, issue citations and complaints, submit cases to the District Attorney's Office, and can be called to testify in court.
